Autofill Extension Privacy

The Win Film Grants Autofill extension is a browser extension made by Intersectionnel Films Inc. ("Win Film Grants," "we," "us"). This notice explains what the extension accesses and what it does not. It covers the browser extension only; the Privacy Policy covers the Win Film Grants web app.

What the extension does

The extension fills a funder portal's text fields with the answers you have already saved in Win Film Grants, so you don't retype them. You always review the page and submit it yourself. The extension never submits an application on your behalf.

How it signs you in

There is no login inside the extension, and no password field in it. When you sign in at winfilmgrants.ca in your browser, our sign-in provider (Clerk) sets a session cookie on our own domain. The extension reads that cookie and uses the session you already have.

This is why the extension asks your browser for access to cookies. It reads that one session cookie, on Win Film Grants's own domains only. It never reads cookies on a funder's portal or on any other site.

What it accesses

• Your Win Film Grants session. Used to prove a request is yours, so that only your own answers are returned. It stays between your browser and Win Film Grants, and is never sent to a funder or to a third party.
• Your application answers. When you open the extension, it lists the applications on your account so you can choose one. When you click "Fill this page," it fetches that application's answers and enters them into the matching boxes on the portal page you are viewing. Answers are held only for that fill and are not stored by the extension.
• The active portal tab. The extension reads and writes form fields on the tab you are on, and only when you click the button. It does not read your other tabs, and it does not track your browsing.
• One saved preference. The extension remembers which application you last filled on a given portal, so you don't have to pick it again next time. That preference stays in your browser.

What runs in the background

The extension keeps a small background component running so your sign-in stays current between uses. It only handles the session and fetches your answers from Win Film Grants when you ask it to. It does not read, watch, or change any web page unless you click "Fill this page."

What it does not do

• No analytics, tracking, advertising, or fingerprinting.
• No selling or sharing of your data with any third party.
• No sending your data anywhere except to Win Film Grants to retrieve your own answers.
• No automatic submission of an application.
• No collection of passwords or payment information.

Your control

Signing out of Win Film Grants ends the session the extension depends on, so it can no longer fetch your answers. Removing the extension from your browser stops it entirely and clears the preference it saved.

Older versions

Versions up to 0.1.4 worked differently: you copied a connection link containing a private token out of Win Film Grants and pasted it into the extension. If you are still on one of those versions, updating the extension replaces that link with the sign-in described above.
